Thika
General Information
Thika is a busy and fast-growing town in the Central region of Kenya. Thika is the setting for novelist Elspeth Huxley's interpretation of her colonial childhood, The Flame Trees of Thika, which was adapted as a television series in the 1980’s. There are not many flame trees left and are now outnumbered by conifers.
Thika is basically a satellite of Nairobi, with many textile and food processing factories dotted around.
