Kitale
General Information
Kitale is situated in Western Kenya and is predominantly an agricultural town. It is surrounded by alternating fields of burnt-orange colours and greenhouses that are used to grow flowers, which are then exported to Europe.
It is the last significant settlement before the A1 highway leads you to the remote northern parts. Kitale is a market town for the surrounding agricultural areas and is one of the most diverse towns in Kenya.

There are a great variety of things to do in and around Kitale:-
- Kitale Museum - set in a tropical forest, the museum has displays of natural history, including traditional homesteads. There is also a snake park here.
- Hiking trails - many nature trails leading to picnic spots where you might see the rare De Brazza’s monkey.
- Saiwa Swamp National Park - north Kitale.
