Kenya Information Directory
General Information
Straddling the equator, halfway down Africa’s eastern coast, Kenya is one of the most accessible countries in the region. With many international flights arriving in and departing from Nairobi every week, visitors can be observing elephants and other wildlife within a few hours of leaving the office.
Tourists to this beautiful country can expect to find unique landscapes, diversity of cultures and myths, sandy beaches, a range of adventure sports activities, opportunities for bird watching and, above all, the chance to observe rare wildlife. Kenya’s multinational capital, Nairobi, is the only city in the world with a national park.
Visitors can try out their swing on some of the world’s finest golf courses or experience the thrill of a racecourse, where it may not only be horses that do the racing! However, it is on the plains, beneath the great sometimes snow-capped mountains, that you will find Kenya’s most memorable sight: the annual migration of the wildebeest.
Annually from July to October about 2 million wildebeest, alongside half a million zebras and thousands of gazelles, move steadily north from the Serengeti searching for the lush grass and water they need to survive. There they graze until about October, when they make their great migration back again.
